Castle Chorus was started in 2015 and is an Edinburgh based mixed voice community choir, and part of the Natural Voice Network.

Led by Caro Overy, we sing a big range of great songs without accompaniment, including some contemporary folk and some more traditional and roots type music, with a splash of jazz and some more experimental things too. From more traditional standards like Wild Mountain Thyme, to more mainstream gems from bands like Vampire Weekend and Fleet Foxes! And anything and everything in between...

We also collaborate with Edinburgh-based songwriters and musicians to perform beautiful new arrangements of fresh songs. We also sometimes compose our own songs to sing at choir, usually as a group, but individuals also do this too!

In the last 7 years we have performed our own sell-out Christmas carol concerts and a programme of carols at Rosslyn Chapel, as well as dozens of relaxed pub and music festival gigs, as well as concerts at the end of each 'term' or season (these usually have a theme, such as 'Light and Dark,' or 'Creatures'), and done loads of ad hoc workshops, pub sessions and more....

We’ve been highly commended in the Chorus Awards, sung as part of an Edinburgh Book Festival play, on the Isle or Arran, done Christmas Carols on Princess Street, performed at the Scottish Parliament, as well as been featured on BBC Radio Scotland and Castle FM.

During COVID, we migrated online, and helped each other through the pandemic by singing and creating music together, as well a enjoying each other's company. We are now back in person, but still have the option for people to join in online for choir rehearsals, and sometimes for performances too!

We sing from 6.30 - 8.30 pm on Thursday evenings in a rehearsal space in central Edinburgh. If you’re interested in coming along, get in touch. We're always looking for new friendly faces who love singing.
